Are We Putting the Cart Before the Horse in Education Reform?

I read two education-related articles in the online version of the New York Times about a week ago. Both were interesting on their own, but I felt the dots between the two were missing. One was about school reform and the other was about the lack of book access for millions of children in our country. Sometimes, it seems, we need to take a step back and focus all of our efforts on the root cause of a problem before changing everything after to try to fix a problem when it is too late. Or maybe doing it all at once is the way to go. I am not sure. My “wonderings” were published on Yahoo Voices.
