Dog Pound Philosophy

After a recent visit to adopt our new puppy at the Dumb Friends League (the pound) in Denver, my husband said something like this:

“People should live life like they are in the pound. The dogs that wag their tale and look excited to see you, are the ones who get adopted. The dogs who look pissed that they are stuck in the pound, get left behind.”

He is the philosopher in the family.

  1. Philosopher husband says:

The point is that if life gives you a raw deal (i.e. you’re in the pound), you have to act like you’re happy and friendly in order to get out of it. Being pissed off about your circumstances — even if justified — only perpetuates those circumstances.
